Affective Environments (2018)

Affective Environments (2018) is an interactive performative installation exploring the question of how can we design our environments to help us emotionally? Through the symbiotic relationship between technology, the environment, and the performer’s own psychological state of mind. The performer enters a small enclosed chamber and sits down, faces forward, attaches a sensor harness around their chest and starts to breathe. Once a state of relaxation is reached, the sensor triggers the release of steam within the chamber, steadily obscuring the performer from view. Through the use of wearable technology, the performer affects their environment by adjusting their emotional state.
